Construction Certificate

Construction Certificate

There are a number of permits and certificates required for different construction projects in New South Wales. One of these is a construction certificate.

What is a construction certificate?

An NSW construction certificate is a certificate that permits building or construction works that are approved by a Development Consent.

How to get a construction certificate?

A registered building surveyor can provide a construction certificate for your project, after confirming permissions via your Development Consent documentation, and assessing compliance against the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards and other legislation. If these are not found to be compliant, you cannot obtain a construction certificate or your application will need to be amended.

Once your application and documentation is in order, your building surveyor will be able to issue your construction certificate. It’s important that your surveyor has the right experience and knowledge, so that your certificate is issued correctly and in a timely manner.

How long does a construction certificate last?

A construction certificate lapses at the same time as the development approval issued for the associated development.
